![]() It can be difficult to upgrade your aircraft appropriately without enough money, which in turn causes more damage to ship and crew in further missions. ![]() Storage units for first aid kits can be expanded, engines can be upgraded to hold more weight, and my PS4 player logo of a Final Fantasy 4 dragoon was plastered across the entirety of my plane (because I found the dragoon to be a perfect metaphor as the mascot for my bomber). My plane had weak engines and was too heavy to add the additional turret on its belly, so I took away some necessary cargo in exchange for firepower. There is an interesting balance you will need to find when customizing your ship. But there are times where you will have to improvise after giving secondary skills to your crew members, and this happened a lot more down the road in more profound and dangerous missions. Typically, my engineer would have been commanded to put the fire out and fix the engine. I moved him to the sick bay and watched my plane somehow still land successfully while ablaze. The fire began at the same time as my engineer was taking a lot of damage. There were quite a few times where my crew members took some damage in the first few missions, along with my plane returning to the base with an engine or two burning by the time I landed. To that point, adding a carrier pigeon to your aircraft can help your crew with recovery meanwhile, adding a dingy can also help should your crew crash in open waters.Ĭustomization of your crew and plane are crucial to staying in the air for further missions. If you fail at this or your plane gets shot down, you can hope your team is recovered when across enemy lines. A lot of the game's mechanics build up to one underly point: you need to manage your crew under moments of distress. Your engineers can be trained to mount the additional turret on the bottom of your war machine when they aren't guiding the plane or even serve as backup pilots should your chief pilot become injured. Hit a certain level and your pilot can also become an engineer or a gunner. The training of additional skills for all of your crew members takes place after they level up from experience in the field. ![]() For example, you can train a bomber on your plane to also have experience and knowledge to also be an adequate killing machine while on the turrets. Your crew members will do most of the work for you if they are healthy and able, as well as being positioned in their correct job on the plane. However, if you keep these basics in mind, build up your plane’s defenses and capabilities, and level up your crew, there’s no reason why you won’t be the next WWII flying ace.The game mechanics require the player to aim their position over points of interest. There’s a lot to Bomber Crew and a lot to learn all at once. This is especially helpful for landings back at base, which can move pretty slowly at times. If the sky is free of enemies and you’re just trying to either get to or from your objective, you can click the Fast Forward button at the top right of the screen to speed things along. It’s perfect for issuing orders, finding that navigation point you flew past ten minutes ago, or tagging the squad of fighters that came up out of nowhere. That bar indicates how long you can slow down time by holding the Control key. In the upper left corner of the screen, you’ll see a purple bar with a clock and the Control key symbol. If all this seems like it’s getting too much, there’s an easy way to slow things down to give yourself a chance to multitask. Parachutes are vital in case you have to order everyone to jump, but it’s good to equip your engineer with one anyway, so you can be sure he or she doesn’t die if there’s an accident while on the wing and they get blown off. They not only boost your plane’s armor they give you a place to store parachutes too. However, it’s a good idea to install equipment racks as well. But, when you do start raking in the rewards, it’s best to upgrade your plane first because it’s the first thing to get damaged in a firefight.īetter extinguishing systems are an absolute must, along with efficient turrets (though those can come later unless you are having a tough time in early air fights). You won’t be getting any just for getting through training. Most of the good stuff is locked behind intel requirements, the second reward type you get for completing missions. Picking the Right Gearįor a little while, your access to equipment for your crew and plane is very limited. Thankfully, the flashiness of your plane doesn’t attract more enemies to you.
